Film photography is an experience.

The goal is to free ourselves from the immediacy of digital photography, so that we can make more intentional and creative choices. Photographing with film slows the process down, every frame captured is filled with intention. Film offers a unique experience and photographic style.

The choice of color is intentional. As photographer Dawoud Bey wrote, “Color adds a degree of material specificity to the description of a subject that makes the experience of the person more palpable and immediate.”

O. Vega Studio offers an exclusive film photography portrait experience — casual, relaxed and spontaneous. Spend an hour or more shooting at a location of your choosing, with or without a backdrop, and we’ll create a dozen portraits.

What to expect:

A film portrait session is different from a digital headshot session.

We slow down. We take our time.

With only 10 frames on a roll of film, every exposure counts. I double-check all the settings, the focus, and you, the subject, before pressing the shutter.

We use a medium-format camera for our portrait work which makes a negative measuring 56mm x 69mm. This large negative captures lots of detail for printing.
